Hello Amazing Teacher! I am so happy you found our community!
I’m Yaddy. I’m that goofy looking woman up there standing on top of a relatively high mountain. I created this blog to show English teachers and secondary teachers valuable strategies you can implement in the classroom, share the lessons I do with my students that I find make teaching fun, and talk about curriculum and education.
You are in the right place if:
- You are trying to reclaim your time and set boundaries at school by getting time saving lessons and ideas
- You are looking for insight on how what best practices get students learning beyond comprehension
- You are looking for someone to help explain up and coming teaching concepts so you can be ahead of the game
- You are looking for the latest books to get your students hooked on reading
I have loved teaching since I was in high school, being that one kid in class who could wrest control from her teachers. (Kind to think of it, most of my teachers probably wanted to strangle me for it.)
My start in teaching was rough, going from assistant teacher to art instructor to substitute to a classroom teacher without a classroom and back to substitute, so you know I have horror stories that will make you feel like your worst day was that much better. I have been teaching underclassmen English since 2018, everything from Creative Writing, to Group Communications, to Reading Seminars, and the standard English 1 and English 2.
I am an absolute nerd for education and have the degrees to prove it: a BA in English, MS in Curriculum and Instruction, and I have a Doctorate in Education where I studied military families and everything the messes they navigate when putting their children in school during transitions.
